The man one day said: “He’d rather be smart than good. What about you?”
When I asked him to explain or why, he told me:” If you’re smart and have to one day adjust you probably can do it. Figure it out. If you’re just good you might not.”
Good has its limitations for sure. Smart is an ongoing, or at least should be, journey. Being smart, he continued, expects changes ahead since hardly anything stays the same forever.
Expects and dreads are two different things, he added. Most of us dread changes. Smarts realizes they’re often not only there but necessary for more growth.
In the end everything leaves you.
